Default Car Inspection Due But Out Of State..

Alright guys, my car needs to be inspected by the end of the month but i am out of state for a bit. How should I approach this? 18. My vehicle is due for inspection, but I will be out of the state. What do I do? I got this from the FAQ from the dmv website, but im not understanding it..

"18. My vehicle is due for inspection, but I will be out of the state. What do I do?"

"A person who is out of state may obtain an emissions inspection in the jurisdiction where the vehicle is located in lieu of an inspection in North Carolina as long as it meets the requirements of 40 C.F.R 51. For a detailed list, click here. {http://www.autocenter.weber.edu/OBD-CH/obdstatus-1.html}"

Just get it done when you get back in town. I went almost 2 years on my Ford Ranger with out getting it inspected, or should i say before DMV noticed it.

So what im saying is that there is no reason to be worried about it now.

If they send you a letter asking about it just reply to them that you were out of state, and that state's inspection centers do not comply with said ordinance or what ever.

just research what ever is in the link you posted this way you can tell them what they don't do!

But I wouldn't really sweat it!

after its 3 months out they will send you a letter saying that you must get it inspected or you will get a $250 fine. if you get one of these all you have to do is call the dmv, i believe they give you a number, and just explain that you have been out of the state. if they give you any crap, when you get back, just get it inspected and give them a call with the receipt number and say you havnt been driving it, they should drop it.

They say you have 3 months. Thats what i have always heard.

From experience that 3 months is more like 16 or 17.
