After doing some really major work to his car, "KOPP" needed some serious security. We discussed his needs via PM. Priorites were alarm, keyless entry, remote start (it's a 5 speed) and turbo timer for the engine. He also wanted it loud....like really attention getting. To make this happen, I hooked up the horn to honk and flash the high beams when the alarm is fully triggered.
The alarm picked was the Viper 5701. It comes with 2 sleek keypads, it is designed for remote start on manuals and has the keyless and turbo timer functions desired.
We threw in the tilt sensor, back up battery, ecu kill and fuel pump kill just for good measure.
When I popped the bottom of the dash off, I saw that the gauge wiring would need to be cleaned up. This is not unusual, and it works, so hey it's not that bad. However, I cleaned it up just to make it better for the next person. If you look closely, that is the old alarm in the kick panel. Kind of unusual, but better than tossed casualy under the dash.
Here is the new alarm, all buttned up with all the relays, battery and tilt sensor.
Here is the wiring run up the side, cleaned up where the old alarm used to be.
And a final underdash shot. Everything cleaned up, gauges wired cleanly and ready to go...
Overall, I'm really happy at how it turned out. Knowing it went from a basic install and gauges to a nice stealth install and super clean underdash. KOPP's a really cool guy and the car was a blast to ride in when it was all done.
(I know I told you I'd get this posted sooner, but I got really tied up with company after you left!)
