Where do you buy your replacement auto parts?

Alternator died?
Starter not starting the car?
Need new windshield wipers?
Need hoses for your worn out/cracked ones?
Battery died?

When your car breaks down, where do you buy your auto parts from?

Pick the one you buy from the most & reply below WHY you buy from that certain company.

boredom 12-09-2009 09:41 AM

auto zone simply because its
1) the item will be relatively cheap
2) close to my house and most places i travel
3) comes with lifetime warranty
4) isnt a major item
5) i like the rewards program (although i havent recieved my latest $20 gift card)
6) i am cheap
7) honda wants way too much

jdmblackcrx 12-09-2009 09:55 AM

autozone or advance iknow everyone there lol

Stevesumo 12-09-2009 10:06 AM

i'll goto the stores like autozone and advance for small things...belts, light bulbs, random bolts......but from what i've come to learn, you don't end up with as many issues if you just get it from honda....i'm a cheap ass too, but you get what you pay for in most cases.

MisterSir 12-09-2009 11:05 AM

Autozone Sucks they Have Cheap Parts but they never last
Advance sucks because They dont know what the hell they are doing, They give you what ever the hel they want and They dont Stick to the warranty they offer.
Orielys all the way.

Maxcy 12-09-2009 11:36 AM

junk yard ftw

i lol'd

They are not all the same, They both Have different hiring standards, wich would explain why advance autoparts is ran by a punch of Dumbasses who nine times out of ten dont know shit about cars. And advance autoparts use cheaper Part suppliers wich explains why the shit never last from them.

phyberoptix 12-09-2009 02:32 PM

Other --- I usually order my online and get them for about half as cheap as I do from the parts stores.

I just buy a new car if my car starts having problems.

revn9k 12-09-2009 08:21 PM

Advance Auto since I've had a 20% discount on all items for that past 5 yrs.

LKQ if it's long-term stuff that don't break, body parts, or tiny/silly stuff.

Honda if it's anything in the drivetrain that matters or is major.

But I'm surprised Advance is leading - Auto Zone really is cheaper on almost everything they sell by at least 5% most often, and they do seem to be better at honoring their warranty. As for technical advice, almost all of them suck IMO. I'll be at AutoZone if my connections ever dry up at Advance.

Autozone here, simple, they are connected, so if you have to do a warranty, its no problem, kept in the system. now advance from what i know isnt connected, so most of there stuff has to be taken back at the same store it was purchased at to be an easy process anyways.

revn9k 12-09-2009 10:26 PM

^^ Nah, if you take a part to another location, you give them a receipt or they poll the location you got it from and look it up in the system. I take parts all over town to 4 diff. locations with no troubles. I think you do have to know the location you bought it from or it takes them a few mins. to look it up if you dont.

94EGCoupe 12-09-2009 10:40 PM

Rock Auto for anything that can wait.

Autozone if in a rush.

Junkyard as a failsafe.

92CivicSi 12-14-2009 04:44 AM

I voted other simply because it depends on what it is that needs to be replaced....wipers; Walmart, eBay can be your friend if you know what you are looking for....parts-wise I don't buy Autozone since they are not OEM anyway and can find same item on eBay! OEM Honda items I call Pop @ Crown Honda!!!

kamikaze_itr 12-14-2009 10:48 AM

autozone in F-V. i've been there so many times that most everyone that works there knows me by my first name and knows that i have some kind of frankenstein motor i'm working on so they don't argue with me over what parts came on what cars (like Advance employees have done to me). besides that, i don't even need a receipt anymore to return stuff. they already know that i'll be giving them that money back within weeks if not that day.

ajbalmat5 12-14-2009 11:12 AM

umm...this guy i know in apex for miata stuff.

er.....i swear it's nothing gay.

ground_control 12-17-2009 11:13 AM

i like napa

ground_control 12-17-2009 11:15 AM

o yea and i also like o reillys ,i bought a water pump from there and it was a real oem honda water pump they but they had rebuild it.

kigamkcalb17 12-23-2009 05:37 PM

advance all the way got friends that work there so i get discounts on everything people at my oreilys are usually dicks ive never had anything but problems with autozone stuff an never been to any others

eg9 12-26-2009 03:56 AM

O'Reilly's because they're cheap

da9licious 12-26-2009 10:00 AM

i choose OTHER.. i've had better results with buying straight from Honda over an oem replacement

Jokerone 12-26-2009 01:18 PM

i get my parts from who ever has them and the junk yard

Sam 12-30-2009 05:49 PM

Other--

I research online first before leaving the house.

I am within 5 min from all listed choices so it is easy for me to goto the best offer. If I have time to wait then I will search CarolinaHondas, ebay or online stores.

Lately though I have been favoring o'reilly's. They are never busy, fully stocked and have good parts.

CJ 12-30-2009 06:40 PM

autozone cause it's right down the street.

MooN05 12-31-2009 08:27 AM

OE honda/acura here

747Lear 12-31-2009 01:50 PM

Where ever is least inexpensive. mostly advance and o reallys i never liked auto zone. sometimes you got to go to other places to get parts thow.

BLU CIVIC 12-31-2009 01:55 PM

like gaskets and such - Autozone since it's closer
small stuff, ie switches buttons, etc - junkyard, craigslist, or forum classifieds
stock engine replacement parts - Acura Parts @ AcuraAutomotiveParts.org - Genuine Acura OEM Parts from Acura Carland

Finalimpact 12-31-2009 03:08 PM

other so to speak. for small things like gaskets i use O'Reilly's. anything i dont want to replace on short notice i go to the dealer.

the autozone around me is good. unlike advanced, they don't argue when i tell them a part to look up then tell them what car i plan on putting it on. getting someone to understand why a 98 acura cl hub is going on a 93 accord is annoying sometimes and my local autozone doesn't question my part combos.

Gspec 01-01-2010 01:18 AM

From the dealer....oem ftw.

GinsterMan98 01-01-2010 02:25 PM

I like too find used oem parts most of the time. No better quality than oem IMO. If I can't find what I need or it something that should just be new I will go online and buy oem. No durasuck parts from Autozone for me, had too many rebuilt starters and alt shit out. Parts cars are also worth their weight in gold for parts vs cost. A good example is my new motor I am building. Paid 250 for a 94 jetta vr6 AT. vr6 engine is worth about 400-700 depending on milage and condition. Parts cars = your own oem parts store.
