Default 2007 Honda Accord 2dr -- CUSTOM trunk audio install

A good friend of mine asked me to redo the audio system in his 2007 Honda Accord 2dr coupe. Like most folks, he had the average "universal" sub box in the trunk. The amp was mounted on top of the box and the sound was mediocre. Besides redoing the system, he wanted to add hardwood to make it stand out. I started on Saturday morning around 11am and finished up Sunday early morning.

Materials List:
- (4' x 8') sheet of 23/32" plywood
- 3/4" plywood strips
- construction "Liquid Nails" glue/adhesive
- 1" and 1 1/4" wood screws
- brushed stainless steel drawer handle
- speaker box carpet
- spray adhesive spray
- OrangeGlo hardwood spray
- Minwax walnut colored wax
- Pergo Max 5-in W x 47-11/16-in L Visconti Walnut Laminate Flooring

Subwoofer box enclosure: 24" x 18" x 7.5" (1.25ft^ internal volume - sealed)

Enough with the jibber jabber, on with the pics.

AND THE FINISH PRODUCT.....

Looks good but it needs something around the ring to hide the edges.

Yeah...I mentioned to him about that and he's going to take care of it at a later time.

Never much understood losing vital parts of your car for so little sound ( cheap pioneer 12 im guessing but losing the spare tire ) but looks good and im sure it sounds better in that box than the prefab one

Yeah...he doesn't ride around with a spare tire even before this install. Whenever he does drive out of town, it's more than likely in his other car.

As for the sound, it's noticeably improved. Before, it use to just "thump".... sorta what you expected out of a cheap sub. Now, even though the Pioneer isn't the greatest choice, it sounds WAY BETTER.

looks good! I would have probably put some sort of cage over the speaker so I could still chuck things in the trunk with out hurting the speaker

The owner is planning on getting one soon. For the most part, he doesn't put anything back there.
