Default Advice on new audio system

I have a 98 civic, looking at getting a whole new set up since only 1 speaker works now. I dont know much about audio. All I know is I need speakers, subs and an amp. I dont know what size would be best or ampage or whatever it is. LMK

replace all the speakers (doors and rear deck) with MB Quart. Had this setup in a '00 Civic coupe and it sounded great. If you want to add an amp and sub, that's not that hard to do. Let me know if you're interested in a custom setup. I can take care of that for you....for much less than any car audio shop.

^^ I agree with nvturbo, find someone either on here or a buddy who knows a lot about audio equipment and installs because most of us have a connection and can get stuff or get stuff done A LOT cheaper than any audio shop would be able to.

I cant speak too much on the component sets because I have never had to replace any of mine. Although I helped my brother replace his in his eclipse and he went with Kicker components and they have been running strong going on 3 years now..

As far as a sub and amp combo, that's where my knowledge begins.. post what you are looking at getting and I am sure between nvturbo, me, and fatman we can get you pointed in the right direction.

Gonna have to poke my face in here for a minute ... hit some local shops and take a listen to some of their speakers on their sound board ... nvturbo likes mb quart .. but my ears feel they are lacking tremendously ... not saying they aint good just tryin to prove that everyones ears are different ... alot of people who ive done installs for were more than happy with a small 4ch amp and some cheapy pioneer 2 way speakers in the doors with an entry level pair of 12s on about 500 watts rms .. me on the other hand my 4chs (gonna be running 2 of them) are 120 watts rms each channel and my sub stage is over 2000 watts for now and will eventually be over 5000 ... but my point is we can only make suggestions you need to do some leg work and listen to soe speakers to see what YOUR ears prefer .. as far as sub stage im guessing you just want a lil bump (lil being a relative term since im used to my trucks body flexxing multiple inches) so any decent brand subs in a prefab store bought box with a decent amp will more than likely satisfy your desires

No that is not true at all .. if your not going to run a amp for your door speakers look for a speaker with a high sensitivity .. the sensitivity decides how a speaker reacts per watt given .. so a higher sensitivity will use less power better

Ok, I was thinking of getting some door speakers with the high sensitivity like you said, 2 10' subs with an amp. I dont want it stupid loud just enough for when I go to meets and whatnot. What wattage would be best for all of that? I really dont know much about it but I can install it..weird.

Yea id say go for 2 10s and match the amp to them and that should be plenty for you

Either really. And my budget will probably be like $500-$1000. Matching the subs to the amp means get 600 watt subs and a 600 watt amp?
