Thanks! I appreciate it. You wanna build PA systems or recording studios, I got you... but put a few speakers in a car audio system and I'm lost. Haha. I understand power, RMS, load, ohms and all that... same idea as live sound stuff... but it's what is possible in a car system, as far as placement and on/off axis setups and all that crazy shit. Honestly, I would probably be fine with a decent set of speakers, I have just never had a sub before, and I effing want one! I should be getting the car this week when I have some time to drive down and pick it up. I will assess the stock speaker setup, and what needs to happen after that and start looking around. I really do appreciate the help.

Honestly most are happy with mid level speakers and a decent sub .. most don't even amp the door speakers .. I can't run door speakers off of head unit power .. the sound is terrible to me lol .. but honestly I just threw a set of 6.5 alpine type S components in from amd type s 6.5 2 way coaxials in the rear of my mom's trailblazer with a small little rockford 8" sub in a sealed box .. all ran off a Rockford prime 5ch amp and it's leaps and bounds nicer than her stock blows .. oops I mean bose ... setup and it was very affordable .. coulda saved a little here and there by choosing less expensive brands and still had the same outcome .. but all in all it was about 400-450$(I shop around for good deals lol) and by comparison to my system in my frontier that's pocket change lol ( just the alternator I put in my truck to support my system was 650$ lol) .. it's all in what your after though .. what sounds good to my ear may not be what your ear likes ... I've honestly found the majority of people are happy with mid level coaxials in the doors ran off the head unit with a high pass crossover set around 80 Hz and a small 10 or 12 inch sub set for 80 Hz down with a subsonic of about 30-35 Hz .. very simple setup but a lot are please with it ... I on the other hand have just 1 set of 6.5 components in my front doors ran off 125 watts rms per side and 1 15 with 3500 watts rms ran to it .. and working on gathering the things I need to upgrade to 2 15s and 6000 rms lol

Haha. That's crazy. I have a good ear. I'm a recording engineer by trade, so I'm sensitive to frequency response and appreciate good sound. I hate "boxy" sounds on the kick drum from rock music, and a lot of lower end stock systems have that sound... it's annoying. That being said, I will check out the system in the car and see how it sounds. I will need a new head unit, as the cassette adapter for my iPod that I have been using in my Astro is just not going to be a long term thing. First comes first, I want to fix the rust around the fenders on this thing (from CT... damn salt.) and get the moonroof fixed. Then I'm going to decide what to do with the thing long term and work at piecing it together. I was told initially it was a GSR like my old 97, but it's and LS... so there goes my simple, clean all motor GSR... I might not do any engine mods at all, and just put decent suspension and wheels and focus on my audio setup. Who knows... I get crazy sometimes, maybe I'll do an LS/VTEC or LS Turbo and go super nuts. Haha. I would love to hear your audio setup... it sounds impressive to say the least. If you know anyone good at handling rust on fenders, holler and let me know. I'm trying to figure out the best way to tackle it.
