Default Advice for sock 08 si audio system

I have a bone stock 08 si. My stock audio system is pretty good for stock, I would like to up grade my system but I want to keep to bone stock look in the dash. Ppl have told me that I need to in close my subwoofer? I know I would have to up grade my speakers. And maybe run an amp, can any one help me or point me in the right direction to up grade my audio system an still keep the stock look?

So all you want to do it install better door speakers? What do you want to achieve by changing the setup from stock.

Well I would want to have better sound, deeper/harder bass. What I don't want is a different head unit I want my car to look as stock as possible.

My advice would be to get either 1 10" or 1 12" subwoofer to put in your trunk with a small 500-1000 watt amp. You will need to run a high/low converter since you want to keep your head unit factory.. The only thing my advice will change is the "factory trunk space" but only by a little.

The best LOC (line output converter) to buy is an AudioControl LC2. I have one in my setup and it works great. I, too, kept the factory headunit but added an amp and sub. It's not that hard to wire up. You just have to find the proper speaker wires (of the rear speakers) to supply audio signal to the LOC. The AudioControl LC2 will provide a remote turn-on wire and RCA output for the sub amp. Most factory headunits DO NOT have remote turn-on wire and RCA outputs in the back of it.

Well my si comes stock with a 8 inch sub in the back. If I want to keep using my old "harnesses" to mount the new sub where my old one was will I need to inclose it? And what would you guys recommend for the inside speakers ? Also any opinions on great sounding 8 inch subs would be appreciated as well.

Nvturbo haz the right idea ... you dont want to use the factory sub or sub amp if you add another sub .. get a lc2 like nv said and disconnect the factory sub amd sub amp and use a small amp and sub combo in the trunk and id think a basic decent brand name 2way speakers in your stock size amd location would suit you just fine unless you wanna get crazy and run amps to your door speakers and run an active sound stage ect I wouldnt spend too much money on door speakers ... I personally like pioneer 2ways for simple setups

Rockford makes a pretty good sub and amp in box setup that wont rape your trunk space. There wouldnt be many wires and shit either.

Also get good door speakers, don't cheap out on them. those are the closest to you. Get a nice set of Boston Acoustics separates. Mine are seven years old and have been in three different cars. I got the best they made at the time, with the mid level 6x9s. I still have both sets. Subs make Bass thats it. Your interior speakers handle the rest.

Not entirely true .. I had less than 100 bux in the speakers in my front stage brand new and a few people got asshurt when I told them the speakers they were hearing and loved much more than their 300 $ plus sets of components cost me about 90 bux ... also from what I gather he is mainly after better bass so if hes happy with mids why change them? But thats just me im far from an expert just have done my share of buyin and researching but also at the same time what sounds amazing to my ear might only be defent to yours .. with proper installation and tuning ive had great success with cheapy pioneer 2 ways for most peoples listening taste
