Anyone can install a car audio system. Making it sound good and looking nice isn't that simple. I've seen countless installs that look like ASS.

I give you that doing it isnt hard but doing it and it sound good and last is the true test ... my install doesnt look great but im not concerned with looks on it right now .. not till I get it setup where im happy with it lol going back over a clean install multiple times is a pain in the ass lol ... but as soon as I get it to where im happy with it im gonna clean up the loose ends and such

General installs are simple. Dressing them out arent complicated of you take your time during the install. As far as sound goes it depends on what your trying to achieve. I myself prefer sound clarity over spl. I build my system around my mids and highs. Whats the point of having 2 15's on 2000 watts with factory highs. Yea i can hear you a mile and away but sounds like a bucket of ass when im in or near your car. Distortion makes me laugh. Ive been piddling with car audio for 16+ years. Have built boxes . Helped guys build walls and shoe boxes for nspl. Its not as complicated as people make it. Thats just my thoughts

If you dont know how to detect distortion and properly set your gain and understand the importance of a quality signal to your amps its very difficult ... and dont think just because I have the 18 that mine doesnt have clarity many people are quite surprised when they hear my front stage and then even more surprised when I tell them how little I have spent on my front stage ... I dont ride around with the 18 on full tilt all the time and I listen to a very wide array of music so clarity was a big factor for me aswell

Yea I love tbose kids who have "4000 watt" "competition"amps on some 2000 watt flea market subs with 2" voice coils that swear they cracked their window when they hit 200db ... and they run the amp off high level inputs haha ... especially when the amp has 4ga inputs ... and when they crank it up to show off all I can hear is clipping and it makes my heart hurt to think this kid thinks his shit is loud .... and those kids that spend 400+ on name brand components for the front stage then run them off their boss audio headunit ...facepalm

The difficulty of the build all depends on what you are into, some of us are in it for the mids/highs, some for the daily beater, some for high spl numbers, and a select few for extreme lows (under 25hz).. What type of audio you like determines the difficulty of an install. Its alot easier to throw in a 1k watt amp and 2 12" subwoofers in a prefab box and just beat the shit out of them with no worries, but its a totally different demon to have to worry about your voltage drop in your back battery bank, and how efficiently your amp is running, how much airspace is being sacrificed inside the box due to port wall bracing ect ect.. Extreme builds can pose alot of headaches and problems but it all boils down to how much you love your hobby..
