You people dont even know the start of what a DSM engine can withstand. 1000whp stock untouched blocks. A stock head DSM, by stock i mean stock portwork and even stock valves has seen sub 9 second passes at over 160mph and 900whp. A set of cams and a set of springs/retainers and you have a head that you can twist 3k rpms past the factory rev limiter (factory limiter is 7k).
ACTUALLY I know quite a bit more then you think my friend. DSMs have their own problems they are plagued with, including crank walk, specifically with the eclipses. And I have seen 800whp evos blow holes though the side of the block, and these are cars built by some of the best DSM tuners in the country. And the block blew with in 2 hours of it leaving the shop.

But the over all reason why the DSM block can handle more then a Honda is its construction. 4g63 are solid cast iron blocks. Its a BITCH to break those, but they weight a ton. Honda chooses aluminum. Its much lighter, but can not handle as high of pressures. Unfortunatly, Mitsubishi's choice of pairing the cast iron black with an aluminum head is a bad choice, seeing as the metals expand at different rates when heated, causing an issue with blown head gaskets.

But if we are going to talk crazy built cars, lets not forget the 4000hp integra. Yeah its a custom block, but who cares, its a 4000hp integra.
